Let me stop you right there. IF THEY’RE GUILTY, PUNISH THEM TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW! I don’t care about their political affiliation. Lock them up and throw away the damn key. Raping (and trafficking) children is wrong, despicable, disgusting, horrendous, and people who do those things aren’t even worth the air they breathe. And before anyone can say “underage women,” THERE IS NO SUCH THING. 17 is a child. 15 is a child. 11 is a child. Puberty doesn’t matter. They are not women. They are children, and children cannot give consent for adult acts. There is no exception.

Where does my standpoint come from? Well first of all I am a decent human being with a functioning moral compass that doesn’t require any outside force or influence to tell me right from wrong.

But also, I am a victim of sexual assault, many times over. There were a handful of adult men throughout my childhood (meaning I was ages 5-17) who attempted to fuck me, or made sexual advances, comments or “promises,” or actually did commit sexual assault against me. I was not an “underage woman.” I was a child. I remember so many details and how everything made me feel… and I can now compare it to being a full grown adult woman. And let me tell you – I was NOT capable of consent as a child. My abusers tried to use that defense, that I gave consent. But as a child, I did not know better. I trusted the adults around me to do the right thing, keep me safe, NOT abuse me. I trusted. I trusted. I was a child, and I trusted. TRUST. Read it again and again, as many times as you need to understand. Children give blind trust. Children don’t know right from wrong until they are taught. And sexual abuse is wrong. A child knows no better. That is NOT consent.

Abusers so often get away with their crimes against children (and women) because no one listens to victims. Especially when the abuser has money or power, like our current POTUS. And so I say for any file with his name on it, or anyone else’s names at all, regardless of political affiliation, church affiliation, socioeconomic status, legal status, or any other label their life may fall into, HOLD THEM ALL ACCOUNTABLE. The victims deserve justice, and the abusers deserve nothing more than to rot. I will never believe otherwise. And I find it absolutely abhorrent that anyone would defend any of those acts or the people who committed them.

And as far as the first sentence of this post, take a real look around. Open your damn eyes. My words speak for the vast majority of “democrats.” This is not a radical take.
