Full Transparency

I know this topic is super controversial these days, but PLEASE hang in there with me and read the whole post. I’ll try to keep it as short as possible.

Since I started this blog back up in October, I’ve been playing a lot with AI. Many of my posts with the “Meditations” category and most of my “about” pages have been written by ChatGPT with specific prompts, and then edits have been made by me after it’s generated. And to be even more transparent, I had several scheduled posts for January and February all created by AI…. But over the last few days I haven’t been feeling so great about that, so the scheduled posts have been deleted. And my “about” pages have now been entirely rewritten to be 100% authentic, no AI assist.

Sure, AI can come up with some great content, but that’s not me. And to be totally honest with myself, that’s not the point of having this blog. The point is to express myself, not an AI representation of myself. Of course it’s not going to be the same as what you’ve read, if anyone has been reading along at all. I’m not quite as articulate, but that’s okay. Also, I may not be able to stick so easily to the schedule of posts I’ve set out for myself (3x/week), but that’s also okay. I need to show myself grace. I’m human, not AI.

That being said, there may be some times that ChatGPT will still occasionally be used for writing inspiration (not complete generation) for meditative pieces. However, I will not cut and paste and call it my own. I will use the generated text as a template, and write my own version, in my own words. AI-Assisted writing will get it’s own category now to maintain full transparency, and I will use it much more sparingly, as I’d like to keep my published writing as human and authentic as possible.

Images are a whole different thing to me. I’m not a super-talented artist (although I really wish I was), and I don’t have the money to buy stock images, nor do I know where to find an artist to illustrate my writings. I do not want to go around the internet stealing other people’s images for my own purposes. So Bing Image Creator will continue to be used for uncredited images. If this offends you, this website is not the place for you.

However, If you’re an artist that would like to illustrate my writings, please reach out through my About The Author page and we can have a chat. I’d love to keep it human if a deal can be made.

AI’s illustration of “AI Assistance”

I now have a shorter version of this entire write-up as a note of transparency on my blog archive pages, as well.

If you’ve read this far, I appreciate it! If you choose not to follow me over my use of AI, I completely understand. Like I said before, it’s a very controversial topic right now, and I get that. I had to find my footing, but I think I’ve finally gotten past my initial fascination with it, and I want to put out MUCH more human content going forward. In fact, I may go so far as to remove a lot of the past AI generated posts. Maybe. Depends on how much it wears at me. At minimum, it’s all getting labeled as “AI Assisted.”

Anyway, thanks again for reading, and I hope everyone has a wonderful 2026!

And what do you have to say about that?
